2009 DOMAINE MOULIN LA VIGUERIE LES FALAISES DE BRAISE TAVEL GRENACHE BLEND
This bright strawberry colored Rose was a pleasant discovery at this year's Newport Wine Festival. It opens with a red raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and food friendly. The flavor profile is a delicate strawberry with gently infused minerality. The finish is dry and nicely refreshing. This tasty Rose would be a complement to cedar plank broiled salmon. EnjoyMoulin la Viguerie, Tavel 2009
50% Grenache Noir, 30% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, 10% of Mourvedre, Bourboulenc, and Clairette. The Petit Roudil family has been producing Tavel and Cotes du Rhone wines since the 16th Century when the monks were making the local wines. Today Gael Petit and his wife Mireille Roudil continue to make great Tavel at Moulin la Viguerie. Their vines grow in four different soil types depending on the varietal chalky clay, sandy loam, sandy, and limestone. Gael has to work extremely hard to keep up with the varying care each soil type requires.
All work, including the harvest, is done by hand. Drink this gorgeous wine on its own or with appetizers, cold meats, roast turkey, and grilled salmon.
